Goals of the Changeways Program
I believe that thoughts, feelings and behavior are powerfully connected. It is easier to change yourself and your life by changing behavior and thoughts than trying to change emotions.
Take a few minutes to sit and think. Has doing something (reading, walking, talking to friends, etc) ever had a positive effect on your mood? What was the situation and what was the effect? Think of a few examples and write them down.
Remember-emotions influence thoughts which influence behavior.
The typical result of life skills coaching is performance or goal-directed success with emphasis on taking action (through improved motivation and goal setting skills) and sustaining the changes over time using learned techniques that improve decision making skills and promote positive thinking.
Life Skills coaching is often used to improve performance in a specific area. It is more practice than theory driven and relies on the development of interpersonal skills.
Life Skills is NOT therapy. It is NOT counseling. Life Skills are problem - solving behaviors that are meant to be used appropriately and responsibly in the management of personal affairs. Life skills coaches will listen, I will listen. They will make suggestions, ask questions and respond to your answers, ideas and insights. I will make suggestions, ask questions and respond to your answers, ideas and insights. Your own intelligence will help you develop the answers you need to take your life in hand and plan your future.
This process encourages you to search within yourself to open up the blocks to your personal progress. It assists you to sustain positive self talk rather than negative self talk and helps you to respond to these new thought processes instead of being led by your emotions.
Life Skills includes a relatively small class of behaviors that are usable in many life situations. Appropriate use requires an individual to adapt their behaviors to time and place. Responsible use requires maturity and accountability and applies to five main areas of life responsibility; self, family, leisure, community and job.
Eating disorders like Anorexia and Bulimia can rob you of your ability to live your life, set goals and achieve your dreams. I have personal experience with these eating disorders and welcome the opportunity to coach people who are working to reclaim their lives and their futures.
